A City on a Hill
There have been numerous prophecies and such that this city I am
in will be the birth of a new revival here in India. It’s not by chance that this was also the
same city that the Baptis* of the Holy Spirit first fell in Asia. Dad is surely working here on this
“hill”. At just over 9, 800 feet above
sea level, we are secluded, but also have numerous unrea*hed people groups at
our finger tips.
There are over 100 house ch* in Mussoorie alone. For the last 12
years, these ch* have been working together to reach the mountains and
surrounding Un*eached areas. They have faced many threats and opposition,
but now s*lvation, open doors, and b*ptisms are taking place. We often
have visitors from the villages come and stay with us for a few days and seek
encouragement before moving on again. We get to hear their stories and pr* with
them.
This week was no different. We had a family come. The husband
had deaf and dumb spirits for a long time. (This seems to be very common here.)
The wife fasted and pr* for 40 days. She had been told of a Dad and that could
heal her husband. Both husband and wife had come to Chr*st. The man reported
that after he came to faith, over 4 new families in their village watched what
Dad had done in his life, and they also came to faith. These are big families
and one family has over 14 people in the family that came to Chr*st. Dad
is rising up an army in these villages. The man reported that last week
many new friends took bap*ism, including a 7 year old boy. After the
dunking, the boy began to sing and lead others in worship. He was the loudest
of all and Dad seemed to be using him, the 7 year old, to lead others. WE
are seeing life begin to take place.
Another boy in our B* school shared about how he and his family
face terrible parsec*tion in their city. He and his family are
farmers. Somehow something happened and many villagers were upset with
them. His father was arrested along with his 5 brothers and put in prison
for 6 months. In despair, the boy from the school left his city and was walking
towards a bridge to commit suicide. On the way a “party leader” met him
and began talking with him about the Father. The boy was filled with hope for
his family and their situation. He accepted the Son as his helper. He went back
home to share the truth with his brothers and discovered that his brothers and
fathers were also released from prison. Someone had also told them about the
Father. The villagers heard of the news of their release from prison and
called them to come back to the town. They asked how they were released
so soon, and this opened a door for them to be able to share about the Father
with the village as well. Their city is very anti-C. They have burnt down
homes, chased people from the village, and threatened their lives and
families. This is true of many villages in N. India. They are strongly
opposed. This family and his boy have been living in another village. The
boy came to B* school to pursue being able to tell people about JC. They
have not been allowed to live in their own city or work their land, but they
believe that Dad is working and opening doors. Slowly but surely they keep
testing the locks and doors, and little by little they are hoping to return to
their village and share again the good news there.
