“That One”

My heart has heard you say come, and I am coming.
Higher, deeper, I see myself climbing the tree of life.
I see Him- high and lifted up.
Father, you have great plans.
Plans to prosper me and not to harm me.
Plans for a higher perspective where I can SEE, and SEE clearly. 

From up here, I can see as you see,
The vastness, the greatness, the beauty, the lost, the broken, the hurting, the places that still need someone to go…
I can see.
My heart aches with you father. 
I see it…
I see those you call me to,
The villages, the people, the women, the children, the shop keepers,
The ones that still have not heard. 
I see…


Father, from this perspective, I ask you, “And what am I to do?’

He says clearly as he point, “that one”.
Go talk to that one.
One at a time,
Day by day,
As I lead and point out, “that one”- go!
If everyone I called “that one” to would go and speak and share
The work would be done quicker. 
Ask that others would hear me call them higher and listen as I say “that one”.

There is a difference between hearing and listening.
Don’t just be a hearer of the word.
Be a listener,
A do-er,
A responder to the word.
Listening implies you do as the word commands.
Listen and obey.
“That one” is waiting. 

Oh Father.
I hear you! 
I hear you!
Open my eyes to see the one you point to,
The one you call me to.

Yesterday was a rough day.   The build up of the thought I would be able to Skype friends and family this week (Week of Christmas) and have working internet was so high that when it didn’t happen my expectations came crashing to the ground, along with my heart and emotions. Lessons from “Highway” 307

I went to a village a few hours outside the city I work in. I had been invited to come speak about the effects of drugs and alcohol on families. As we drove the only road there is to get to the village, “Highway 307”, the Father flooded my mind with illustrations and led me to see things with His eyes and begin to pray. There is only one way to the village we were headed to. We were on what was called a “highway”, but there was not even pavement at times.   Yet there is no other way to reach this village. The same is true of humanity’s search for salvation and freedom and healing. There is only ONE way.   It is difficult and lengthy and not always a smooth journey.   As we traveled we often were simply driving in a desert trying to follow the tire marks of the one before us, there was no “edge”, no “side”, no road to follow. What’s It Like Here with Lockdown?

(This woman sold her husband's phone for 2500rps ($33) to buy food.) I don’t think any country or family has it “easy” during these Covid-19 times, but I do think Third World Countries like ours have it a little harder.  Many of the people who are day laborers or migrants are really struggling. These are the people who work every day to get income to supply that same day’s food supply. Without it, they have no food to eat. With lockdown, most of this population is without income and therefore without food. Today, news came that one lady died from hunger in Nep@l.  Each day the news is filled with stories and pictures of desperate slum dwellers lined up at NGO doors for food donations or migrant day laborers walking thousands of miles to try to go back to their cities or countries to find food.
